the last five weeks. if you elect obama for the next four years, there will be no better than the past four years. i happen to believe that is true, but not very inspiring. it is hard to blame the guy. he wants to get reelected with a pretty narrow cast approach to democratic and independent constituencies. i do not think we will get the kind of framing you would like. i am a little less pessimistic. i do think reality matters. and we will hit a cliff and all kinds of ways. the fed cannot keep printing money and expecting the world to take it or buy treasury notes to fund trillion dollar deficits forever. the economy is slow and going into another dip. i actually think the next president will have a moment between november 7, and i do not know, this summer or fall of 2013 to do a lot. i would bet there is a huge legislative agenda in 2013. i did not really by the gridlock argument. if obama gets reelected, evil have a mandate basically -- he will have a mandate basically the lesser version of bowel- simpson. if romney wins, he will have a mandate for some version of the right and budget, pr

in history. host:next is ann, a president obama supporter. caller: good morning. i think exactly the opposite. i think mitt romney looked almost manic and his appearance. i have never seen him flailing his arms around. he told so many lies. he completely turned around all of the things he has been running on the for the past 18 months. he even through the tax policy away. he just changed everything. it was really unbelievable. i think many people looked at him being more aggressive. that is what they were rewarding. once people started paying attention to exactly why he said, they would see that his -- that he told so many lies and distorted what he was trying to say. i think the president look very presidential. he was not aggressive. he explained exactly what he wanted to say. i thought the whole purpose of the debate was for each one to explain what their policy was. romney just completely changed. that is what was so -- i guess it is not so surprising, because that is what he has done is flip-floping. i hope the president would get an ad out or they show what he has been saying and what h

romney and barack obama. we're also taking your phone calls. illinois, vicki is up next on our independent live caller:. good morning, i have a different question. i would like to say that i voted for president obama. a lot of people are misconstrued about what mormon is. they think of donny and marie osmond. i have been upset a little bit about people wanting to make this a race issue. i have a granddaughter where her mother is white and her father is black. we are all americans. this makes me upset that we need to tell these people to quit and stop with the race card. guest: there's a question as to what the race card is in this case. obama was born to a mixed household and raised by a white mother. that has always been part of what he has been publicly. in that sense, he represents the absence of racial issues in politics. host: let's take a look at an excerpt from the book -- guest: i think that's about right. people are watching if the candidate is going to win or gain. they are hoping that mitt romney has that special edge, the republicans, and if you are for obama, you h

. caller: good morning. what can president obama or governor romney due to work with the next congress? do think this will lead to a greater assertion of executive authority in the next term? guest: thank you, john. i did not know i would be facing the toughest questioners. congressional approval is at an all-time low. it is up there with paris hilton and the communist party of russia. i think we need to step back and understand many people in this country see the political system as broken. others -- elizabeth warren -- have spoken house some money have seen the system rigged against them. there is a few that those who dislike government for the past 40 years have a stake in diminishing the reputation of government, of congress. i would argue that we have seen a movement in these last 40 years to debase role of government. callback and read the book on lyndon johnson. the use or abuse of the filibuster has been used or abuse in the last 10 days or three years more than once in the 1960's 197's combined by the republicans. the president has an opportunity to come back if the republicans de

of questions about obama and his personal life and his youth that they do not focus on. host: next up, greg on our line for independents. caller: i have an interesting take on the spirit we have always had some type of media bias by the people who control the media -- i have an interesting take on this. we have always had some type of media bias by the people who control the media. we have always had that kind of control and that type of influence, and we should probably work on what the powerful people are doing and not one a president, because he has a very limited field of power, is able to control -- not what a president is able to control. guest: as someone who has gotten into the white house media room, a day passed does get you in the doorway. i thought jeff cannon's question was embarrassing because it sounded like he was asking the president to agree with him that democrats are morons -- i questionjeff gannon's was embarrassing. anybody who is a reporter wants to ask a question that is supposed to elicit information. when i had questions to ask ari fleischer, it would be how they t

is about to the next 40 years. there are 100 reasons to deny barack obama for more years and office. none are more important than defending the freedoms that make this country great. these are the freedoms we have to fight for. these are the freedoms at stake in this election. fight. do everything you can between now and election day. fight for these kids and grandkids here today. [cheers and applause] fight for our soldiers who put it all on the line defending our freedom overseas so they can come home to an america as free as when they left it. [cheers and applause] send a message to the national news media. their coverage of this race is a national disgrace. [cheers and applause] you know, we have a message for cnn, abc, cbs. you will not decide the outcome of this election. we, the people, will decide the outcome of this election. we live in a country that is getting harder to recognize every day. led by a president who mocks our values, be littles' our faith, and is threatened by our freedoms. you know it and i know it. barack obama is another washington, d.c. politician who will say

obama not pushing as many throughout as bush did. the courts are so important, and they should be discussed in this campaign. i hope in this next debate -- it is important that this has gone under the radar. the presidents are not individual -- not just individuals. they come with advisers. president reagan's nominee robert bork was rejected by the senate for being way out of the mainstream in this country. he did not believe the equal protection clause applies to women. he is opposed to the voting rights act and the silver rights act of 1964. and he believed that corporations are people. he would play a very destructive role in a court of common sense, fairness, justice, diversity of equality and opportunity. those are not left-right issues. i think we need to take a hard look at the courts and the political intensity gap, where the right does understand the court and its powers but the progressive, liberal democratic community has stepped back and not engage with that judicial process or the courts as effectively as they could. host: there are four students on the bus who did
